Xanax relieves anxiety

How long does Xanax stay in my system once I've stopped taking it?

Once you have taken a pill, it takes about 90 minutes for xanax to reach its highest concentration in your blood stream. After that, the level slowly reduces. In a healthy adult, it is eliminated in between 12 and 24 hours. But in older people and those with liver and kidney disease, the drug can remain in the body slightly longer. It will also stay for longer if you are obese or an alcoholic - in some cases, for as long as three days. If you are dependent and you stop taking xanax, this will affect the time for the withdrawal symptoms to start.
