In the clinical trials for xanax leading up to FDA approval, a range of adverse side effects were reported. The most common was drowsiness. Some 40% of participants reported feeling less alert. Less than 1% of participants reported any changes in their sex drive and it is not considered to be a side effect worth linking to use of the drug.
